|Yapton and District Cottage Gardeners' Society|
Welcome to the homepage of the Yapton Cottage Gardeners Society website. We are a very active Society - each year we hold four shows, where members and guests have the opportunity to show their flowers, fruit and vegetables, floral art, cookery and photos. We also always have a large number of competition classes for children. As well as our shows, we hold members' meetings when speakers entertain us with talks and slide shows on a variety of topics, some horticultural and some of general local or topical interest. We hold two plant sales a year and put on entertainment for our members and guests in the form of barn dances and annual concerts. Please have a look at our events calendar.
The next events are : a garden visit - to The Old Vicarage in Washington on 28 April 2018. It is an NGS garden and features water gardens, herbaceous borders, a Japanese garden, views to the North Downs and 2000 tulips, among many other features. It will be ‘pay on the day’ and we need to meet there at 1.45pm with the visit starting at 2pm. The cost will be £8 for members and £10 for visitors which includes homemade cakes/tea. The full address is : The Old Vicarage, The Street, Washington, RH20 4AS. Lifts can be arranged if necessary; the main garden is not suitable for anyone who needs a wheelchair as the back garden is on a slope. Please let Anne Hollis know if you would like to attend - see contact.
Our Plant Sale will take place from 10-12 noon on Saturday 12 May 2018 in Yapton and Ford village hall. We will as usual have a wide range of excellent quality plants at very reasonable prices - bedding plants, perennials, vegetables and allsorts on our members' table - please feel free to bring along any spare plants that you'd be happy for us to sell to help the Society's coffers! We will also have cakes, breads and preserves for sale, and you'll be able to sit and have a drink and piece of cake when you've exhausted yourself with all your plant shopping! Come early to avoid disappointment - doors open at 10 sharp (not before).
